Custom Architectural Lighting, Designed as Sculpture
WoodLab designs and handcrafts one-of-a-kind chandeliers, statement pendants, illuminated wall art and integrated lighting for luxury residences, hospitality environments, corporate spaces and distinctive interiors worldwide.
Every piece is created around the architecture of the room—its scale, sightlines, materials, light quality and the atmosphere it should create.

By Day, Material and Form. After Dark, Atmosphere.
Architectural lighting can do more than illuminate a space. It can establish rhythm, draw the eye, bring warmth to large volumes and give a room a sense of identity.
WoodLab creates custom lighting fixtures that feel as intentional when they are turned off as they do when illuminated. Natural wood, resin, metal and integrated light become part of a single composition—designed not as an accessory added at the end, but as a defining element of the interior.
Some commissions begin with a finished concept. Others begin with a ceiling height, a floor plan, a material palette or a space that needs a focal point. Our team helps shape the project from early direction through fabrication, delivery and installation coordination.
Custom Lighting Capabilities
Sculptural Chandeliers
One-of-a-kind chandeliers designed around the scale, geometry and sightlines of the room. Wood, resin, metal and integrated LED lighting can be combined to create a fixture with presence from every angle.
Statement Pendants
Custom pendant lighting for dining rooms, entries, stairwells, gathering spaces, reception areas, restaurants and other interiors where light and form need to work together.

Illuminated and Backlit Wall Art
Dimensional wood and resin artwork with integrated or concealed lighting can transform a feature wall, lobby, corridor or gathering space from day into night.

Lighting Integrated Into Architecture
Custom illumination can be designed into staircases, wall features, signage and specialty wood installations so the lighting becomes part of the architecture itself.

Site-Specific Lighting Installations
For large or technically distinctive spaces, WoodLab can develop a one-of-a-kind lighting installation in collaboration with the client, interior designer, architect, builder and licensed electrician.

Designed for the Room, Not Selected From a Catalog
A successful custom fixture belongs to its setting. It should feel balanced with the ceiling height, furniture, circulation, surrounding materials and the way the space is experienced from more than one viewpoint.
During design development, we consider the details that shape both the visual result and the practical installation:
- Overall dimensions and proportion
- Ceiling height, suspension height and sightlines
- Wood species, grain, color and finish
- Resin, metal and specialty material details
- Light temperature, output and diffusion
- Dimming, controls and programmable lighting options
- Mounting, weight and access requirements
- Delivery, installation and coordination with the project team
The result is a custom architectural lighting piece developed for a particular room, purpose and atmosphere.
Lighting for Distinctive Residential and Commercial Interiors
Luxury Homes and Mountain Residences
Create a focal point for a great room, dining room, entry, stairwell or private retreat. Custom residential lighting brings natural material and sculptural form into spaces that deserve something made specifically for them.
Hotels, Restaurants and Hospitality Spaces
Statement lighting can help shape a guest's first impression and the memory of a place. We create custom chandeliers, pendants, illuminated art and architectural features for lobbies, dining rooms, bars, lounges, lodges, resorts and destination properties.
Corporate and Public-Facing Environments
Custom lighting and illuminated art can bring warmth, identity and visual impact to headquarters, reception areas, boardrooms, gathering spaces and other high-visibility interiors.
Architects, Interior Designers and Builders
WoodLab works with design and construction professionals to turn a concept, drawing or material direction into a handcrafted lighting piece. We can coordinate around plans, dimensions, installation requirements and project milestones while preserving the original design intent.
Natural Materials, Refined Through Light
Every WoodLab lighting project begins with respect for the material. We select wood for its grain, movement, color and natural character, then shape the fixture around the needs of the room.
Wood can bring depth and quiet warmth. Resin can diffuse, carry or reveal light in unexpected ways. Metal can provide structure, contrast and a clean architectural line. Integrated illumination brings those materials into a different expression after dark.
Rather than hiding the natural variation of wood, we design with it. The result is lighting that feels organic, elevated and unmistakably one of a kind.
Featured Project: The Walnut Circle Chandelier
The Walnut Circle Chandelier brings together carved black walnut, concentric sculptural form, handcrafted suspension details and integrated LED lighting.
In daylight, the fixture reads as a suspended wood sculpture, revealing the color and grain of the walnut from changing viewpoints. When illuminated, routed light channels give each ring a warm, dimensional glow and transform the atmosphere around it.
The original design demonstrates what custom lighting can become when material, technology and the architecture of the room are considered together. New commissions can be developed around a different scale, wood species, finish, lighting direction and space.

How the Custom Lighting Process Works
1. Share the Space, Plans or Idea
Start with whatever you have: room photos, architectural drawings, ceiling height, measurements, inspiration images, a material palette or a general vision. We will discuss the space, desired atmosphere, timeline and project requirements.
2. Define the Creative Direction
Together, we explore the form, scale, materials and relationship between the fixture and the room. The project may begin with a particular wood slab, a geometric idea, a brand story or an architectural detail already present in the space.
3. Refine the Design and Technical Details
We develop the proportions, wood species, finish, resin or metal details, lighting temperature, controls, suspension and installation considerations. When appropriate, we coordinate with your architect, designer, builder or licensed electrician.
4. Handcraft the Piece
Your fixture is built by our team in Eagle, Idaho, with careful attention to structure, finish quality, integrated lighting and the way the piece will be viewed from every angle.
5. Coordinate Delivery and Installation
WoodLab can ship custom lighting and specialty pieces across the United States and internationally. We help coordinate the information needed for safe delivery and professional installation by the appropriate on-site team.
Crafted in Idaho. Designed for Remarkable Spaces Worldwide.
WoodLab is a homegrown woodshop based in Eagle, Idaho. Since 2017, our team has created custom furniture, functional art, staircases and architectural work for homes, businesses and memorable spaces near and far.
That hands-on foundation gives every project a clear point of origin. Each lighting piece is developed and built one at a time for clients who value natural materials, thoughtful design and work that cannot be found in a catalog.
Whether the finished fixture is installed in Boise, a mountain residence, a destination hotel, a corporate headquarters or a project overseas, it is made to bring presence, atmosphere and lasting character to the space.
What Does Custom Architectural Lighting Cost?
Every custom lighting project is quoted individually. Pricing depends on the scale of the fixture, wood species, material availability, design and fabrication complexity, lighting components, controls, suspension or mounting requirements, shipping and installation needs.
Once we understand the room, concept and project scope, our team can outline the appropriate design direction, budget range and next steps.
Custom lighting timelines also vary by complexity and coordination requirements. Many made-to-order lighting projects begin at approximately 12 weeks, while larger or more technically involved commissions may require additional time.
