Architectural Art Beyond Wood
Wood is central to much of WoodLab’s work, but it does not define the limits of what we can create.
Our fabrication capabilities allow us to contribute to architectural artwork involving epoxy resin, stone, metal, integrated lighting, and mixed-material construction. For the World Center for Birds of Prey expansion, WoodLab collaborated with a concept artist and sculpture artist to develop and execute a pigmented epoxy-fill process within finely etched quartzite for a large-scale installation. The project required early material testing, process refinement, molding, pouring, and extensive hand finishing.
We welcome projects in which an established artist or designer brings the creative vision and needs an experienced fabrication partner to help resolve the materials and execution.

Live-Edge Wood Wall Art
Natural hardwood offers something manufactured materials cannot reproduce: movement, age, irregularity, and a visual record of the tree itself.
We select and compose slabs for grain, live-edge form, color, knots, voids, and the relationship between individual pieces. Depending on the design, the wood may remain visually dominant, interact with resin, float within a metal framework, or be arranged across multiple panels to create one continuous composition.
Black walnut is a frequent choice for sophisticated contemporary interiors, but other hardwood species may be considered according to availability, scale, color, and the goals of the project.
Wood and Resin Art
Epoxy resin can introduce color, depth, transparency, movement, and light into a custom artwork. It may represent water, sky, topography, or a purely abstract element within the composition.

Depending on the design, illumination may pass through translucent resin, wash the wall behind open framing, emphasize the depth of recessed wood, or create a changing evening atmosphere.
